Training Matrix

Identify the mandatory training requirements for your role within Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Training Matrix

Welcome to Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's Training Matrix. This tool is designed to help you identify the mandatory training requirements for your job role.

Choose your role from the list to view the relevant mandatory training requirements. Options are loaded from the Trust's role register.

Please note: Where training is identified as "Role Specific", individuals should discuss the requirements with their Line Manager to confirm applicability to their post.

Understanding which training modules apply to your role can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially within a busy hospital environment where priorities shift quickly. A training matrix helps bring order to that complexity by mapping required learning against job roles, clinical settings, and local policy expectations. When a topic is flagged as Role Specific, it is a prompt to pause and have a conversation with your line manager before assuming it is, or is not, relevant to your day-to-day responsibilities.

National elearning programmes offer a consistent baseline that staff across different trusts can rely on, while local modules often reflect the particular pathways, equipment, and governance arrangements used in Gloucestershire. Blending these two layers means learners can move between regional and site-specific content without losing track of what they have completed. Keeping a clear view of both national and local requirements also supports safer handovers when staff rotate between departments or undertake new duties.

Access to the platform is generally straightforward for anyone with an active NHS or trust login, and most modules are designed to be completed in short, focused sessions that fit around clinical shifts. Tracking progress is handled through the learner dashboard, where completed items, outstanding topics, and refresher dates are displayed in a single view. This makes it easier to plan study time and to evidence compliance during appraisal discussions or internal audits.

When queries arise about enrolment, certificates, or how a particular module links to a wider competency framework, the training helpdesk is usually the first point of contact. Colleagues there can guide users through account settings, clarify role expectations, and signpost to further support if a technical issue cannot be resolved straight away. Reaching out early helps keep learning momentum going and reduces the risk of training deadlines being missed.
